| Events | Colt Research Day
The Foundation makes grants to students taking higher degrees in subjects related to occupational and environmental health through selected universities and colleges and grants to students account for up to one-quarter of the Foundation’s annual grants. Each year a Students’ Day is held to which all current students, and occasionally former students, are invited to give a presentation of their work and outline their plans for the future. This gives them the chance to meet the other students and some of the Trustees and present their work to a friendly and supportive audience, which will include a small number of invited guests with a particular interest in the world of occupational health research. Colt Research Day, as it has now become known, was extended in 2009 to include some of the Colt Foundation researchers, and was held on Friday 11th December at The Gordon Museum at the GKT Campus near London Bridge Station. Presentations were heard from five of the Colt Foundation current PhD students, two of the King's College MSc students, and three researchers working on Colt funded projects. Colt Research Day will next be held in December 2010, and if anyone would like an invitation to attend, please contact Jackie Douglas in the Colt Foundation office.
PhD Fellowships are awarded annually. The advertisement for the 2011 PhD Fellowships will be sent out, and posted on the website under 'Students', in August 2010, with applications to be received by the end of October 2010. Potential applicants can contact Jackie Douglas on 023 9249 1400, or email on jackie.douglas@uk.coltgroup.com for further details or advice.
